Listen: Horsegirl Share ‘Switch Over’ from Upcoming Album ‘Phonetics On and On’

‘Switch Over’ is the latest single from NYC-based trio Horsegirl, ahead of the release of their upcoming album ‘Phonetics On and On’. Taking a call and response format, the track flips between vocals from Nora Cheng and Penelope Lowenstein as lighthearted instrumentals explore simple yet danceable beats.

The single is repetitive and succinct, with the hook perfectly scratching an itch – ‘Switch Over’ feels reminiscent of alternative music from the early 2010’s, blending instruments and allowing the listeners to hear the fun the band was having when producing the track. Everything about the song feels minimal but creates a big response, resulting in an instantly catchy tune that seems to aptly summarise their upcoming album release.

Horsegirl don’t complicate the honesty in their music, creating a vulnerable piece with understated subtlety.
