While catapulting to increasingly larger stages in remarkably little time with indie renegades Fat Dog, Morgan Wallace has, for just as long, been warping time and shifting sands in London’s underground with her own project fittingly dubbed, Morgan Noise.
New single ‘I Put Everything’ – released via Slow Dance Records’ experimental imprint MOTR – is cloaked in mystery and intriguing suspense. With its shuffling jazz circumspections winding around a grimy effigy of synth-strewn pop, Morgan’s thick-cut south London accent yanks the curtains off from the illusions of urban living and reveals all it’s grisly inner workings in full jarring exposure.
Placing special emphasis on the image of a dark-soaked city skyline – how it might as well be made of cardboard as opposed to concrete and iron – ‘I Put Everything’ is just as mysterious and sublime. Every time the song threatens to settle into a groove, it turns a sharp left across another creeping, jarring break – it’s weird, it’s fantastical, it’s troubling to resist.
