Listen: London’s Plutoz Beach Shares New Single ‘Nobody Loves Me’

Step right up, step right up! Ladies, gentlemen, and everyone beyond, come and behold the marvels of London’s latest wonderous five-piece Plutoz Beach as they return to the stage to perform their gritty new single, ‘Nobody Loves Me’.

Plutoz Beach guides you into the big top, with merry-go-round pipe organs and eccentric, uncanny vocal delivery at the helm. It almost feels nostalgic, but there’s a disarming, willful awkwardness—more the essence of an unsettling, surreal dream than the sugary allure of candy floss. ‘Nobody Loves Me’ begins to expose a raw sense of self-doubt and lack of self-worth that comes with rejection and the breakdown of a relationship, all wrapped up in whimsical circus punk.

Before the feelings of unease can begin to settle, a trapdoor is pulled from underneath, leaving you ensnared in the chaotic funhouse of the second act. The vocals begin to bend and contort, bouncing around the labyrinthine corridors as over-driven guitars erupt in a frenzy of unrestrained madness.

Songwriter and vocalist Jazz says that the single was “written on the back of a receipt on a train somewhere after a breakup. ‘Nobody Loves Meʼ muses on the trials and tribulations of childish self-loathing. It’s about embracing teenage feelings of inadequacy and seeking out love regardless of fear of rejection; accepting feelings of loneliness and not apologising for who you are.”

This eclectic circus of talent from Web, Alien Chicks, and a former member of Fat Dog have been setting up at regular hotspots such as The Windmill and The George Tavern. With production helmed by Hank’s Pip Russon, ‘Nobody Loves Me’ is a musical menagerie of discordant melodies and a tightrope walk between self-deprecation and self-expression.
