On their first outing, alphabet produce raw sounds straight from the practice room, championing their friendship as they discuss the lower moments of life.
Having played their debut show just 12 months ago, it’s remarkable how strong alphabet’s debut single is for what is a very new band. ‘Artificial Light’ is 3 minutes of fresh shoegaze-esque alternative rock, with a minor guitar riff that channels mystery and mellowness all the while sounding super crisp. The vocals are antithetical with the Milo’s voice carrying power throughout the track sweetly complimented by the ethereal higher vocals of Lena.
Having met in Brighton and formed in London, where they all moved in unison, alphabet have immediately scored support slots with the likes of Humour, Splint and Martial Arts, whilst receiving backing from the likes Shame and Fontaines D.C. Despite this being their debut single, ‘Artificial Light’ solidifies alphabet as an act to look out for.
