Filled to the brim with fuzzy goodness, Brighton’s ELLiS•D takes on a frantic ride with new single ‘Shakedown’ via Crafting Room Recordings.
Fresh off of an EU tour supporting Fat Dog, ‘Shakedown’ comes at the tail end of a busy year for ELLiS•D and his band with appearances at Left Of The Dial, Kendal Calling and two UK Headline Tours. Polished with an unsettling finish, ‘Shakedown’ amalgamates classic rock conventions with theatrical crazed vocals and a maximalist cathartic instrumental, ELLiS•D and his band create a paranoid atmosphere through noise guitars and a drum beat constantly changing in tempo. Usually, something this abstract and intense could be described as “off the wall” but that phrase doesn’t seem to encapsulate the sweaty madness that seeps throughout ‘Shakedown’.
On the track, Ellis says “I channelled a lot of fear and frustration into this track when I was writing it. It was very cathartic. I wanted to try and create something from the point of view of someone on a total ego trip who exudes complete over-confidence as means of bottling up their true anxieties. It was nice – for an hour or so.”
